WeChat is a mobile app that allows the user to communicate through text and voice messaging. It was first released in January 2011. The developer of WeChat is a company known as Tencent. It was originally released as "Weixin", but in 2012 was changed to WeChat. It was the 5th most used app in August 2013, with 400 million registered members. The Chinese government censored communication on WeChat from China to any other country, vice versa. WeChat said they want to release two different platforms to avoid this problem.o
