For -er Verbs
You take off the -er and replace it with an -é
Ex: J'ai mangé J'ai parlé

For -ir Verbs
You take off the -ir and replace it with an -i
Ex: J'ai choisi J'ai fini

For -re Verbs
You take off the -re and replace it with -u
Ex: J'ai vendu J'ai répondu
