The Sixties and Beyond
September 22, 1975
President For escapes two assassinations.
Gerald R. Ford's presidency, and his life, could have ended when some gunshots were fired outside San Francisco's St. Francis Hotel, when the president paused while getting into his limousine to wave at the crowd across the street. Luckily, the second attempt on his life, never got a shot out, after a secret service officer tackled the assassinator to the ground on September 5, 1975. They believe that he was with not only anti-Vietnam groups, but also anti-government groups as well, this all happened in about two and a half weeks.
