Lesson 3-Diversity of Organisms
Animals are classified into groups to help scientists to identify, study, and name organisms. There is a widely used classification system that divides living organisms into 6 groups. The broadest group is the kingdom.
Animals are all multicellular and get energy from eating other living things. They are all in the Animal Kingdom. Once the animals are separated into the phylum, they are separated into two, groups which are invertebrates, and vertebrates.

All plants make their own food. They too, are separated into 2 groups based on how they transport water, nutrients, and waste. The first group is vascular, and the second group is nonvascular. Vascular plants can grow tall, and nonvascular plants, cannot grow tall at all.
