Day 5, January 30 (2 years later)

I have neglected the writing of my journals for quite some time now but I feel it is my duty to mark the momentous occasion that occurred earlier this evening. During supper my master called me into the dining room and said he was letting me go. I asked him to repeat this once more and he said he was getting old, as was I, and he was granting me and my husband freedom. Freedom to start our own lives. He had already arranged it with my husbands master as well. We were to be gone in three days, no later, no earlier.
I was thrilled at this occasion and wish my parents were here to experience it, I know they were watching down on me, wishing me best in the future. The two masters also threw in a small, very small, just enough for a house and some small farm lands for me and my husband to live in. I cannot believe that in less than three days I will be my own person. Free to do what I say and do what I want to do. With no one to tell me otherwise, besides the senate and consuls of course.
