•It was is courage, even though there were no Mexican Texan in the Senate he was determined to be one. He became the first Mexican Texan in Politics. And his will too was a great characteristic. He was determined to help people and get into politics. Wouldn't give up. He helped start community development programs and worked in the finance area.

•Worked as a professor at Austin University and San Antonio University. Was a probation officer, and director of the San Antonio Housing Authority.
