In the lungs

When you breathe in oxygen moves into the alveoli, to the capillaries, and finally into the bloodstream so it can travel throughout the body. While all of that is going on, the carbon dioxide moves from the blood stream into the capillaries and alveoli. Then you exhale and the Co2 is released.
