You may or may not know this, but trail running, in the form of cross country running, has been in the Olympics three times. The sport debuted in the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm with 45 runners, then took place in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp with 47 men, then again in 1924 in Paris as a team event.
