Guglielmo Marconi
(1874-1937)
Lived in Italy, his parents owned a villa near Bologna. He first got the idea to transmit radio waves while reading a newspaper and then started building one. Many times his ideas were turned down until people, such as the army, started to see the possabilities of its usefulness after a large demonstration of his radio waves being sent across the Atlantic.
