What was the life of a serf like?

The life of a serf was typically very hard.

-Serfs would wake up early in the morning and spend most of their time working in the fields.
-they worked in their own fields to get by, but they still had to do work for their lord as payment
-the lord would give them work farming, but their would usually be other types of jobs too
- one of those other jobs was caring for animals
-the serfs would get time to do normal things like eat and be with their family, but if their work wasn't done there were harsh punishments
