Orbitals

•Each orbital can only hold 2 electrons.
•The orbitals from the sub-levels in an energy level are are added together and multiplied by two to get the amount of electrons in that energy level.

*1st energy level = sub-level s = 1 orbital x 2e- = 2e- in the 1st level
*2nd energy level = sub-level s + p = 4 orbitals = 8e- in the 2nd level
*3rd energy level = sub-level s + p + d = 9 orbitals = 18e- in the level
*4th energy level = sub-level s + p + d + f = 16 orbitals = 32e- in the level
