Clinical Description

-Rapid growth in childhood.
-50% of males with this disorder have learning disability.
-Increased risk of behavioral problems.
-Impulsive and emotionally immature.
-Low ability to deal with frustration.

-XYY syndrome is a common disorder.
-One in every 1,000 newborn males.
-Occurs in all ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Prognosis:

Life expectancy is not altered by this disorder.

Treatment:

-Early identification and intervention of learning disabilities and/or behavior difficulties is necessary.
-Speech, physical, and occupational therapy may be helpful.
-A supportive and stimulating home life is important.
