History
In 1887, a German inventor in the U.S. named Emile Berliner used Edison's ideas and instead of a cylinder of wax or tinfoil with etchings, he made something that rotated a hard rubber disk (later shellac) by turning a crank.
In 1901, his company merged with Eldridge Johnson's company to form the Victor Talking Machine Company.
