Case 1

George Bush

***Turning point in American history!

There were no successful terrorist attacks on the U.S. homeland after September 11, 2001.

Bush on 9/11: "We are going to find out who did this, and kick their ass"

Bush continues reading to Florida schoolchildren after being told of the 9/11 attacks "I thought about the contrast between the brutality of the attacks and the innocence of those children"(Decision Points )

The events that led to the

death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in May began during Bushes administration.

Obama had the benefit of taking credit for his death because he was at the right place at the right time.

"My concern is that isolationist tendencies … cause America to retreat from the world."

Bush avoided isolationism after 9/11 & fought against terrorism. Showing the world that America is strong & won't chicken out when being threatened by terrorism.

He avoided the unrest that would have settled in America if he adapted to isolationism similar to the unrest in America during WWI.

Bush's policies after 9/11 were necessary in order to protect the country & he was successful b/c
