Alliteration
The repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words to produce a noticeable

Onomatopeia
A word whose sound immitates the actual sounds to produce a noticeable effect.
Ex. Buzz, bam, crack, boom, pow
Cacophony
A succession of harsh, jolting sounds.
Ex. The slithering serpent sucked the life out of its unsuspecting victim.
Euphony
A succession of smooth, harmonious sounds.
Ex.
Rhyme
The repetition of word-ending sounds, specifically the repetition of accented vowels sounds plus an succeeding sounds.
Ex. The life of a cupcake
They put me in the oven to bake.
Me a deprived and miserable cake.
Feeling the heat I started to bubble.
Watching the others I lnew I was in trouble...
End rhyme
Rhyme that comes at the end of lines.
Ex. I love the rain...
And the state of Maine.
it's so lovely and tame...
And it's a great name.

Poetry Terminology
Prose- Writing or speaking in the normal or ordinary form; it is arranged in sentences and paragraphs.
Ex- We live in Plower Mound
A piece of literature written meter or verse.
Ex: Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright in the forests of the night, what immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry?

The standard meaning of a word, phrase or sentence.
Ex- The grass looks green.
Hyperboles- an extreme exaggeration.
Ex: I have a million things to do today!
Similie
A comparison of one thing with another by the usemof the word "like" or "as"
Ex: "Life is a box of chocolates; you never know what your going to get."
Metaphor
A figure of speech in which a person, an object, or an idea is imaginativley transformed. It may be suggested by comparison, but it need not to be.
Ex: Time is a thief.
