Changes in air, land, water

Land becomes polluted by garbage, litter, and other solid waste. Garbage from peoples homes used to be put into open dumps. Dumps created many problems. Rain that fell on a dump washed harmful chemicals into the soil. Disease germs could grow and spread in the dirty garbage is buried under the ground in landfills.
