Causes

-exposure to cold weather conditions or cold water

-wearing clothes that aren't warm enough

-staying in the cold too long

-unable to get out of wet clothes and get to a warm, dry location

-accidental falls in water (I.e. Boating accident - see TITANTIC)

-inadequate heating in home, especially in elderly and infants

-A/C that is too cold, especially in elderly and infants
