Murchison falls national park

The Murchison National park is suited in the northern part of Albertine Rift Valley. A place where the massive Bunyoro escarpment amalgamate into the enormous plains of Acholi land. It’s well known to be one of Uganda’s ancient conservation areas. In 1926, it was known as a game reserve set up to protect the savannah grassland that was talked about by Winston Church chill in 1907 as the great Kew Gardens along with the wildlife blended on an restricted land.

As the burial ground for the previous four Kabakas, therefore, the Kasubi Tombs - a grass thatched hut, the largest in the world, which hold the bodies of the previous Kabaka, or King of the Baganda people - are a place where the Kabaka and others in Buganda’s complex cultural hierarchy frequently carry out important centuries-old Ganda rituals.

There’s not much to do on Ssese other than grab a good book and relax. There are canoes for hire, but swimming not advised due to the risks of bilharzia, and some outlaying islands have the occasional hippo and crocodile. Most guesthouses on the beach have nightly bonfires, which is a great way to relax after enjoying one of Ssese’s famous sunsets.
