-Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body, making up 2% of the total body weight.

-It provides strength and structure to the Skelton

-Structure is generally provided by calcium carbonate

-Calcium carbonate is used to make cement and mortar and also in the glass industry

-Calcium carbonate is added to toothpaste

-Calcium arsenate is used as an insecticide

-Calcium stearate is used to make wax crayons, cosmetics, plastics and paints

-Calcium helps make stronger, denser bones

-It's in milk, cheese, almonds and broccoli

-The reason doctors can take pictures of bones is because of the calcium. Calcium doesn't let certain energy, called x-rays, through them, and so appear bright white on film
