-Story of king Arthur and many other characters/ events during his lifetime. Geoffrey located Arthur in the line of Brit kings.

-Geoffrey created the character Merlin in the Legend (a court magician)

- Familiar Terms: Camelot, The Holy Grail, Lady of the lake, Sir Lancelot

- Arthur earned his kingship by withdrawing a sword from a stone

-Not fully Royal; illegitimate son of Uther Pendragon (King of Britain).

-"The Lake" was a very important setting in the book of Arthur- Lady of the lake gave him the "Excalibur" sword, home of Sir Lancelot, and the resting place of the sword.
