Carribbean
-Caribbean is first site of interaction between European and American people
-“The Taino” is the name of the indigenous people in that region
-Ultimate manioc and other crops
-The Taino people lived in villages with a chief in charge who gives land to families to grow food on. -The Chief also supervised affairs within the community.
-The Taino had little problems and resistance with the Spanish. They were also interested in the goods the Spanish brought such as glass, beads, and metal tools.
Aztec
-The adventure to Mexico started with the conquistadores looking for gold in America.
-The leader of this expedition was Cortes. He led his soldiers and seized the emperor and then starved the city till they surrendered.
-One man stood up for Tenochtitlan and too torture from Cortes in an effort to cover up the location of Aztec gold and treasures. Though he was executed by Cortes in 1525.
-Cortes and his soldiers were able to capture the Aztec empire for a number of reasons.
-The first reason is that smallpox hit lol the native American tribes.
-Next, the Spanish had advanced technology such as swords, muskets, cannons, and horses.
-Cortes also had Dona Maria who forged alliances with people such as the leaders of the Aztec Empire and found out their plans. Then she told Cortes what their plans were and he was able to counter them.
Inca
-Francisco Pizarro was the Spanish conquistador who captured the Inca -Empire by gathering all the Inca ruling elites together and then killing them.
-Pizarro did spare one of them named Atahualpa but then asked him for gold. After he gave an amount of gold, Pizarro killed him too
-Pizarro and his men then gathered all. The treasure they could find and ignored their beauty. They burned all the silver and gold and made ingots for their own use.
