GM crops have a negative effect on the environment because they cause birth defects in animals such as birds and amphibians. They also pollute the water sources and reduce bio- diversity. Plus, GM plants that have herbicide tolerant genes can pass these genes to other weeds, which can cause the weeds to become overbearing.
