Why did it start?
The Vietnam War with The United States started when claims were revealed that the Maddox and another destroyer ship were attacked by the North Koreans in the Gulf of Tonkin.
Needing to prove his strength against communism, President Lyndon B. Johnson authorized aerial attacks on the North Koreans.
