A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is an advanced practice nurse who specializes in anesthesia. This person is responsible for administering anesthesia and monitoring the patients before, after, and during the procedure/surgery ,the CRNA also has to look at medical history and review treatment plans with the patient. Once the patient has received the anesthetic a close eye has to be kept on the patient to see if there is any change,movement or de-coloration of the skin. It is common for the nurse anesthetist to make changes to the dosage. After surgery is over the nurse anesthetist has to help bring the patient out of anesthesia . For the math aspect nurse anesthetists, they do use math especially when they analyze patients data and when calculating the different drugs that they have to mix to creat the most useful source of anesthesia.
