Women during WW I
As all of the men went to war, women began working in munitions factories, heavy industry, and many other jobs they hadn't done before. In Britain, women were conscripted into such work. Women also volunteered and served in a non-combatant role; by the end of the war, 80,000 had enlisted. They mostly served as nurses.
