Janos became a member of the Hungarian Communist party in 1930s

Member of Czech resistance during WWII

Half of the Hungarian Communist party did not like him because he was more for the Hungarian version of Communism 

Arrested in 1950 and only returned to politics when the leader, Rákosi, stepped down

Janos was the last Communist leader in Hungary before the country started leaning towards western democracy
