Bosnia and Herzegovina no longer wanted to be part of the Austria Hungary but be part of Serbia. The assassination that led nationalism to come in place was the assassination of archduke franz Ferdinand of Austria Hungary. A Serbian nationalist killed him and his wife, because Serbia wanted to take over Bosnia and Herzegovina . The assassination then led to Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia,then Germany declaring war on Russia then war expanded since then.
