What was the outcome?

-They were held hostage for 444 days.

-On January 21, 1981, just a few hours after Ronald Reagan gave his inaugural address the remaining hostages were released.

-All were thrilled to finally see their families again, families who didn't know if they would ever see each other again.

-Congress passes a budget bill that includes a provision authorizing each of the 52 hostages to receive a $10,000 for each day they were held captive. In addition spouses and children will separately receive a one-time payment of $600,000.
