The most important comparisons from Thomas Jeffersons 'Declaration of Independence' and John Locke's "second treatise" os the fact that all men are created equal and that if a government is seen as tyrannical by the people it should be overthrown. Both of these universal ideas cours heavily through our government today, countless laws have been made to attempt to make all American people equal. From the 12th, 13th, and 14th amendments which freed and liberated former black slaves to the 18th which gave women the right to vote. Presses for freedom are still being made today in our country. America and the American Dream are all based off freedom and equal opportunity. If Americans saw our government today as evil and tyrannical there would be a rebellion like as in 1776 when American over came Great Britain.
