You can see the space between the thin sticks. Without the space the arrangement could have looked crowded.

There is space between the candlesticks. The arrangement would have looked strange without the area in between.

You can see the space that was made in the circle of the arrangement.

Between all the angles you can find the space in the floral arrangement.

There is space between the sticks which creates a more flow like arrangement.
