The Last names in the play are important because of the family rivalry and keeping Romeo and Juliet from falling in love

Love is blind- it doesn't matter who you are on the outside or what your name is.

Juliet doesn't care what Romeos las name is she loves him anyways. This show that it doesn't matter who out re or where you come from anyone can fall,in love.
