What is an EMT?
EMTs are first responders in the event of medical emergencies. They respond to any medical emergency, but the most common are car accidents, childbirth, violent traumas, heart attacks and accidents. Emergency medical technicians are usually dispatched by emergency operators (9-1-1). They work 3 days with 12 HR shifts and have 2 days off before they start again, or 36 hour shifts and have a day off. They work these shifts regardless of the holidays or weekends.
