The history of money
Money has been around for 3000 years. But before we had money we had a bartering system.1 Because of the fact that bartering is inefficient and time consuming, Lydia's King Alyattes made the first official currency in 600 B.C. Also in 600 B.C. the Chinese created the first paper currency. In Europe coins were still being used until 1,600 A.D. The first paper currency issued to the European giver, net was issued by the American colonies. People often ran out of cash and because of this a better system with money was created. Now in the 21st century we have a ton of new technology including mobile payments, and even electronic payments.
1. Bartering is a system of directly trading goods and services
inplace of "in God we trust" on the American dollars, the Chinese dollars had "all counterfeiters will be decapated
US "paper" money is not paper. It's cloth. In Ben Franklin’s day, people repaired torn bills with a needle and thread.
Green was selected for U.S. dollars because it’s the most resistant to fading, flaking, and discoloration.
