The Wooden Painted Monster
I was awoken from my sleep,
When I heard a sound from my closet.
It was the clacking of horse hooves,
From one side of the room.
I got out of bed cautiously,
Not to disturb the monster hiding inside.
The stories my mom had told me,
Certainly couldn't be true.
I padded farther from my bed,
The noise gradually getting louder.
I slowly opened my doors,
Of my shiny black wardrobe.
I opened it to see my painted horse,
Dark and black, the patterns jagged and red,
Like sharp veins.
The once beautiful wood looked almost burnt,
With its' different ashen shades.
Before blue eyes were now a dark shade of black,
A color so sharp it could slice through a soul.
It uttered a sound only a demon could,
A scream so loud I couldn't hear my own thoughts.
I only saw this horse in my House of Horrors,
It was evil, as if possessed by something.
It was then, and just then,
Did my mother walk in,
Turning on the lights.
'Flick.'
To reveal the beautiful painted horse,
That was once a demon captured in a nightmare.
