Reasons and conditions that led to the reform

It was already known that the mentally ill were treated unfair but one day when Dorethea Dixx went to teach Sunday school at a prison she saw how harsh the mentally ill were being treated. Many people in society did not hold mentally ill patients equally to themselves. Actually many people believed it was better to just beat and tortur them to try to rid their bodies of the devil.
