Why was it founded ?

- To stop slave rebellions. During the Civil War, Nat Turner killed a lot of white people and they wanted to prevent ant uprisings.

- Didn't want the blacks to have any rights

- They had branches in almost every southern state.

- Founded on December 24,1865 by confederate veterans
