Job Duties:

-Analyze fluids and tissue specimen for microscopic cellular abnormaties, such as cancer, viral infections, meningitis, etc. 

-Work closely with pathologists, who are doctors who specialize in the study of diseases, but most of their microscopic and analytical work is done independently.

-They also collect, prepare, and interpret specimens for other types of fluid and tissue testing.

-They analyze the Pap tests that detect cervical cancer.
