The Grimm fairytale version
-The Disney version is first based from this fairytale from 1800 written by the Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm
-a folk tale named "Cinderella" or "The Little Glass Slipper" or "Aschenputtel"
The story is very different from the Disney version but starts out similar with a widowed husband and the lonely stepdaughter, Aschenputtel. The ball is instead held for 3 nights and the stepmother distracts her from going by throwing lentils in the ashes and telling her to pick them out. The first night of the festival where she dances with the prince, she wears white. She then follows wearing silver and gold. The step daughters chop off their heels and toes to fit the shoe but Aschenputtel finally gets her prince and at the wedding the stepdaughters eyes are permanently pecked out by birds
Disney added the fairy godmother, her original help comes from a wishing tree
