Seratonin causes most of the emotional and pro-social effects of MDMA; influences mood, appetite, sleep, etc.

Increases the activity of 3 neurotransmitters: seratonin dopamine norepinephrine

Seratonin triggers the release of oxytocin and vasopressin (have roles in love, trust, sexual arousal, etc.)

Seratonin's negative effects: confusion, depression, anxiety, etc. (See slide 2) 

Also affects body's ability to regulate temperature that can result in organ failure and even death
