-The North Pacific Gyre is a circular ocean currents system caused by the forces from rotation of the Earth & wind patterns.
-Trash & waste that winds up in the Pacific Ocean finds its way into these currents, which has caused the build up of trash in the center of the Gyre.
-These piles of trash in the Pacific Ocean Gyre are known as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, or the Pacific Trash Vortex.
-There are two general Garbage Patches: the Western Garbage Patch (near Japan) & the Eastern Garbage Patch (between Hawaii & California)
