We chose the hymn "Be not Afraid" because Jesus is saying in this song that we don't have to be afraid of Him or of opening up to Him. He is divine but also very human. Lines such as "I go before you always.
Come follow me, and I will give you rest." Assures us that he is always there for us and he is in a way "one of us"
