Based on a study done by the Wilmette Police Department at New Trier High School: 

    -Out of 4,000 students, 80 would try heroin in a given year. 

    -Of those 80, over 40% would be repeat users. 

    -12% would become addicted. 

High school is a critical time because the brain is not developed fully but teenagers are more likely to start using drugs. 

Most users start with prescription drugs.
