Why are they fighting?

They were fighting because South Sudan had a lot of oil and land, but there was also people living there and they didn't want to give up there land

What are some details of the conflict?

-In 1955 southern army officers mutinied, creating a civil war between the south.


-There was a peace agreement in 1972 by the Addis Ababa but in 1983 the Sudan People's Liberation army (SPLA).


-Around 1.5 millions people died in the war and more than 4 million were displaced in the ensuing 22 years of guerrilla warfare. Large amounts of the south Sudanese fled the fighting, either going to the north or to closer countries.


-In 2005 there was a comprehensive peace agreement that stopped the war.
