Social Darwinism

Social Darwinism was a theory, highly regarded during the late 19th century, that applied Charles Darwin's biological theories of evolution and natural selection to society. Social Darwinists believed that the less fit and less capable members of society were destined to lead lives of poverty, while those who successfully adapted to the rigors of life would rise to the top of society and become wealthy and powerful.
