The history of the hip hop dance encompasses the people in events since the 1960s that have contributed to the development of the early dance styles: up rock, breaking, locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping. Black and Latinos Americans created up rock and breaking in New York City black Americans in California created locking roboting boogaloo and popping. These styles are commonly known as the funk styles.
