Here are a couple of terms to help compare and contrast these two films:

genre: A category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter.

Similarities in genre: Comedy is the basis of both the 1976 movie and the 2005 movie. The bratty kids cursing and messing with each other is funny because they’re young, It’s not PC to curse as a child. Also the coach in both movies is funny because he’s hammered a majority of the time.

Differences in Genre: There aren’t many differences, but one of the noticeable differences is that the 2005 version of the movie has more drama. They show the coach becoming friends with the team, and learns he needs to get his act together and stop pitching to the kids with a pabst blue ribbon in his hand
