How Does Coal Effect the Environment ?

As we all know, coal is the worst source to provide energy compared to the others. Air pollution from coal is the reason why almost everyone is looking to replace it. Fired power plants include sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, particulate matter (PM), and heavy metals leading to smog, acid rain, toxins in the environment, and numerous respiratory and cardiovascular effects.

In response to strict environmental laws, The U.S. Department of Energy and members of the private sector are developing cleaner processes for coal energy production. Advanced coal—also known as “clean coal”—technologies are being developed to reduce harmful emissions and improve the efficiency of these plants.
