Not all pedophiles are child molesters. Child molesters are defined by an action; pedophiles are defined by their sustained sexual orientation towards children (pre-puberty).

In the DSM 5, it is categorized as "pedophilic disorder".

Can it be treated? That is a loaded question. There is imperial evidence that individuals who are pedophiles can reduces their actions, there is less evidence that treatment can "change" a person's feelings.
