Educational and Career Requirements

Basic law enforcement training and certification as a peace officer; others require fields related to law enforcement, military or security for 1 year or more years

Colleges now adding courses that involve animal abuse and animals abuse investigations

No degree required but courses are helpful 

Experience working with animals

Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, physical fitness, good decision making skills

Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
