Romanticism
1A By: Nikki Glenn
First defined as an artistic literary criticism in the 1800's, Romanticism wasn't viewed as an artistic movement until the nineteenth century. Romanticism puts emphasis on imagination and emotion, and arose as a response to disillusionment.
Romanticism put more emphasis on emotions and painted them in a dramatic, melancholic, and often melodramatic or tragic style.
